Ford Interceptor Concept: the lowdown
What do you get if you take the iconic Ford Mustang and mix in a four-door saloon with a large dollop of attitude? Ford has tried just that and come up with the Interceptor concept, due to bow in at the Detroit Motor Show next week. Conceived along the lines of the Chrysler 300C, this is a four-door you'd be happy to drive, unlike many of Ford's recent saloons.
Land Rover has given a first taste of the Discovery Vision Concept, which will debut at the New York International Auto Show later this month. The concept introduces the design themes that will define both the next generation of Freelander/LR2 and Discovery/LR4 models. Land Rover had previously announced that it would align its models under three pillars - 'luxury' for Range Rovers, 'leisure' for Discovery models – of which the Freelander/LR2 becomes – and 'dual purpose' for the long-awaited replacement for the Defender.
Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid gets Polestar upgrade
The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid is proving a big sales success for Volvo – and no wonder. The V60 Plug-in Hybrid takes the already very good Volvo V60 and plants a hybrid plug-in under the skin which offers Volvo’s 215bhp 5-cylinder diesel engine – which drives the front wheels – mated to a 70bhp electric motor at the back, making the V60 Plug-in a 4WD Estate with a decent turn of performance, a range of up to 621 miles and a BIK-busting 49g/k emissions. Not only that, but you can now have the V60 Plug-in with Volvo’s R-Design spec offering the usual Volvo ‘go faster’ updates which make the V60 look more purposeful without looking silly.
